    SUMMARY:(Summary description of the primary duties and objectives of the position.)

    Therapy seeks to support the individual to find the root cause or core issues to create lasting change; and the education/training received for psychotherapy is intense, structured, and thorough. The licensed therapist will work with adults, youth, and families to assess personal, emotional, social, and environmental situations and plan for treatment course. The therapist possesses a strong foundation in trauma informed care and approaches based on evidenced based theory to be successful in delivering individual and group sessions. The youth therapist will help guide teens to find solutions to challenges while creating an emotionally safe space.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:(Individual duties, assignments, and responsibilities required of the position.)
    • Directly provide evidenced based care approaches to treat adults and youth in group and individual sessions. Caseload may be a mix of adults and youth, but priority is on youth.
    • Session focus is based on the therapy goals of the client, typically understanding causes of emotions and behavior.
    • Provide an approach to clinical services that fosters hope for recovery.
    • Carry a caseload, meet performance goals. The minimum billable service hour expectation is 25 / week.
    • Complete and update IM+ CANS and outcome data on time and with accuracy.
    • The therapist may communicate with external stakeholders such as family and medical coordinators to provide continuity of care.
    • Determine eligibility of referrals. Accept and process referrals. Maintain positive relations with referral sources.
    • Keep therapy notes using an electronic record keeping system and document sessions daily (minimally on a weekly basis).
    • Communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
    • Provide crisis intervention, including facilitating hospitalization, as necessary.
    • Provide emergency assistance/program coverage during scheduled hours, at other sites as required.
    • Work as a team with other staff to provide required services for members.
    • Identify and make referrals to externalresources and other programs and services of Anixter Center.
    • Maintain case files according to agency / regulatory standards.
    • Track attendance and evaluate client progress.
    • Provide alternate coverage for other team members.
    • Plan and participate in special events, community activities, and family events as requested.
    • Respond to medical and behavioral / psychiatric crisis in accordance with agency policy and procedure. This includes all related documentation.
    • Adhere to all agency safety policies and procedures, including universal precautions, abuse and neglect prevention and reporting, evacuation procedures and guidelines for intern or subcontract work.
    • Maintain a flexible working schedule while performing duties. This may include the need to travel off-site or to rearrange the scheduling of breaks and lunch to meet the immediate needs of a client.
    • Maintain a professional demeanor in both manner and attire as a representative of the agency in conducting all activities, services, and instructions.
    • Complete all competency-based training as required.
    • Actively participate in supervision and training to achieve personal and/or professional goals as negotiated.
    REQUIREMENTS (Competencies, skills, abilities, experience, education necessary.)
    • Licensed professional counselor (LPC) or licensed social worker (LSW) applicable to Illinois or in Illinois required at a minimum within 1 month of hire. Can also be LCPC or LCSW.
    • Ability to be IM+ CANS certified within 3 months of employment.
    • Demonstrated skill in assisting children or teens with resolving problems and ensuring emotional needs are being met.
    • Computer proficiency required mastery and use of electronic healthcare records required.
    • Must have the physical capacity to lift and transfer program materials.

    • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
