We are seeking an experienced Machine Set Up Operator for our sister company, BDM Coil Coaters, in east Houston.

The Machine Set Up Operator reports to the Machine Production Coordinator and operates slitting equipment to produce products as specified by customer specifications within acceptable tolerances and as outlined in WI-005.


Responsibilities:


  • Inspects equipment daily and areas before each shift for a safer operation
  • Communicates and coordinates daily tasks with the operating team
  • Produces product in compliance with required specifications by the customer
  • Follows special instructions or tolerances specified by the customer on the work order
  • Identifies, discusses, and reports potential errors in specifications as written
  • Compares nonconformance reports and forwards to the quality team when applicable
  • Directs machine operations team as required
  • Coordinates with production scheduling daily
  • Reviews production efficiency and recommends changes if needed
  • Maintains conformity of all products
  • Monitors operational status of machinery/tools and reports needed maintenance and repair to management
  • Maintains a safe, neat, and orderly work area always
  • Identifies process deficiencies and reports to management
  • Follows all company policies and procedures and monitors compliance by coworkers in the work area
  • Attends all required training and safety sessions
  • Assists in other areas of the operation when required

Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of related experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong math aptitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to traverse the distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
