Position descriptionThis position reports to Annaliese Beery, Associate Professor.
The Beery lab studies the brain basis of social behavior: integrating ecological, evolutionary and neuroscience perspectives in this work. Our primary research focus is on the neurobiological mechanisms supporting social relationships between same-sex peer companions.
This position will involve contributing to research design, executing experiments, data management, data analysis, and contribution to manuscript preparation. This position will involve interacting with and potentially training students.
The work will focus on 1) conducting research related to the roles of anxiety and autonomic nervous system function in seasonally varying social behavior in social rodents, and 2) assisting with research infrastructure (vole colony maintenance, genotyping, ordering).
The position will keep detailed records of experiments performed, conclusions made, and communication of results orally and through lab notebook records.

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (or equivalent international degree)

Preferred qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Data Science, Neuroscience, or related field.
Research experience in a scientific laboratory.
Excellent communication skills and careful attention to detail.
Experience planning experiments, documenting and communicating data, and trouble-shooting protocols.
Experience with rodent handling for colony management, tissue collection, and DNA/RNA-based techniques.
Rodent surgical experience (especially intracranial infusions and/or telemetric implants) is beneficial.
