- The Cardiac Sonographer will perform complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures of the cardiovascular system for diagnosis and treatment.
- Applies ECG electrodes to patient's chest ensuring a "readable" positive signal. Monitors and notes ectopy and arrhythmias.
- Maintain detailed record of patient examinations.
- Responsible for performing echocardiograms, two-dimensional and M-Mode with color flow Doppler and Doppler Echocardiography.
- Performs Stress Echocardiograms.
- Carotid Doppler exams and will be trained (if needed) in Segmental Pressures exams.
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians and other medical professionals.
- Assist patients on and off the exam tables.
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and protects operations by keeping patient care information confidential and following HIPAA practices.
- Other duties as assigned
- Graduate from a two (2) year accredited ultrasound or echocardiography school.
- Successful completion of a course of study leading to certification as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- Possession of a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential is very highly desirable.
- Current CPR or BLS for Healthcare Providers certificate by start date.
- At least two (2) years of experience as a sonographer. Sonographer must be proficient in stress echocardiography as well as resting studies.
- Skill and ability to operate cardiac ultrasound equipment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Excellent communication and customer service oriented.
- Collaborate with colleagues to assist patients in their care and testing.
- Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with patients and customers.
- Ability to work well with teams in an open environment.
- Demonstrate sound judgment to effectively solve problems.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential.
