    About The Role


    As a Staff Engineer on the Remittance Platform team, you'll solve large technical challenges, effectively balancing short-term delivery with long-term scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

    You'll be a key voice in engineering leadership, helping to shape and lead our long-term technical vision.

    As a senior technical leader, you should reflect a strong growth and improvement mindset with the flexibility to take on new challenges as the company grows.

    Most of all, you should care deeply about our customers and view great engineering as an avenue to regularly and reliably provide customer value.

    You will report to the Director of Engineering.

    You Will

    Lead the design and implementation of large, complex projects that involve multiple teams and systems across Remitly
    Partner with senior management to develop and drive a long-term technical vision and roadmap for our backend systems
    Anticipate technical challenges within the team and lead architectural changes to address them
    Be a leader of engineering best practices across the company, influencing developers across the company
    Mentor more junior engineers, helping them grow and advance their careers.

    You Have

    8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
    Substantial experience building and maintaining scalable, robust services and distributed systems.
    Significant experience creating and driving technical designs and processes across a team.
    A proven track record of shipping features and products to customers.
    An understanding of database fundamentals and expertise working with one or more database technologies.
    Expertise in one or more general purpose programming languages like Java or Go.
    Strong ability to mentor and develop other engineers.

    Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $-$$. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
