Description

Position: Systems Administrator

Location: 100% REMOTE (team is in Lake Forest, IL)

Duration: Through Possible extensions

Job Details

Strong experience with Windows Server, VMware, Azure systems administration
Program manager is currently over seeing this project, but looking to add a team lead to be a liaison between the technical teams/administrators and the program manager
Looking for someone who has managed Windows server upgrades and migrations
SQL Migration experience from Server Administration perspective – not a DBA perspective
OS Database refresh experience
Experience as a Tech lead/system administrator, familiar doing upgrades of operating systems from one version to the next
Things this person needs to explain and understand:
What needs to be compatible for the next version?
Is the software required to do the upgrade
Tasks that go along with an upgrade
Need someone who can tell us the best practices and lay out the technical tasks that need to be done to complete this migration

Qualifications

Self starter – program manager will be expecting this person to run the project from the technical perspective
Comfortable explaining what the tasks are that need to be done and creating a roadmap of how to do it
Understanding the applications interactions with the operating systems
Microsoft certifications (highly preferred)

Notes from the Manager:

We are going to want someone that has experience working with application owners to develop plans to plan in-place and side by side OS migrations. I would like to focus on deeper skills and experience with migrating SQL servers and databases to new OS/SQL versions from a server admin perspective (not DBA perspective) and performing OS and database refreshes on Azure VM's.
