Summary of Position:
Prepares metal fabrication quotations by analyzing Requests for Quote requirements, technical drawings and associated specifications as requested by the customer.
Job Duties:
- Read and interpret customer blueprints and bill of material.
- Send out subcontractor RFQs for purchased items and services.
- Assist the Purchasing Department to determine the most costeffective sources for raw materials, purchased items, and outside services while meeting customer needs.
- Work with Engineering Department to identify optimal material utilization and fabrication methods.
Work with Production Department to establish fabrication rates and options for fabrication methodsMaintain metrics related to quality and timeliness of estimates supplied to customers and win / loss ratio of estimates submitted.
- Review and recommend updates to work center rates and rate tables.
- Regularly review Job Costings to establish accuracy of estimates and estimating process.
- Solicit feedback from Production to improve estimating accuracy.
- Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Contribute to team effort by performing duties within the Estimating Department and other Departments, including Production, as needed.
- Create a detailed estimate of leadtime and total cost estimates for the part/project.
- Provide final quote to salesperson, to be sent to customer.
- Perform other duties and assist with specific projects as assigned.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Extensive metal fabricating blueprint reading and the ability to interpret and analyze specifications and tolerances.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication processes.
- 57 years related the professional experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
- Strong math and trigonometry skills
- Computer knowledge
- Microsoft Office
- Excel, Word, Project, Smartsheet, estimating software, etc.
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to communicate with all levels inside and outside the organization.
Bachelor or Associate degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education or Experience:
Manufacturing Estimator: 5 years (required)
- United States Work Authorization (required)
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred but not required)
Pay:
$50, $60,000.00 per year
