    Sr. Director/ VP of Project Development- Utility-scale Solar and Storage - West

    SF/ LA/ West preferred

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Development professional to join their expanding team. The engineer will work with cross-functional teams to promote effective Renewable Energy solar and storage projects, reporting to the Chief Development Officer.

    Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

    • Directs suitable interconnection points on the grid, sends interconnection requests to the relevant utility, ISO, or RTO, interprets the findings of the interconnection research, and bargains with the utility to find affordable interconnection solutions.
    • Lead the development of a strategy to reduce connectivity expenses.
    • Control a portfolio of utility interconnection applications from the time they are first submitted until all Interconnection Service Agreements have been completed.
    • Assist the project development team with site feasibility and viability, and undertake technical due diligence.
    • Develop a strategy and plan for installing PV and BESS systems based on the limitations of power supply, demand, distribution, and transmission.
    • Examine storage options and site selection to offer the greatest project value possible while reducing execution and operational risks.
    • Aids in the project selling process by responding to prospective buyers' technical due diligence inquiries, including collaborating with outside experts to confirm technical presumptions.
    • Support for Requests for Proposals (RFP) and assistance in developing proposals.
    • Lead the Power Purchase Agreements efforts.
    • Coordinate several intricate projects at once with little scrutiny and supervision.
    • Assess the distribution and transmission grid to ascertain the commercial viability of new projects.

    Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:

    • Bachelor's degree from a reputable college or university, preferably with a focus on power systems.
    • More than 8 years of experience as a utility-scale project developer in the utility, power, solar, or wind industries.
    • More than 8 years of expertise (or an equivalent amount of time) in the following areas: the creation of renewable energy projects, and grid interconnection.
    • Strong familiarity with the operations of utilities and ISO, as well as the transmission planning process.
    • Understanding the interconnection and transmission planning policies and procedures that govern the power market.
    • Capability to serve numerous development projects concurrently across various states and areas.
    • Knowledge of market trends for renewable energy and storage in the electric sector.
    • Deep awareness of industry trends in design, engineering solutions, equipment types, and technical risks as well as the technical needs for particular projects.
    • Proven track record of facilitating the creation, development, and sale of solar and energy storage projects.
    • Comprehensive technical knowledge of the development of solar projects, including the capacity to conduct cost-benefit evaluations of design alternatives to maximize economic results.
    • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
