    Trade Compliance Specialist

    Overview

    Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for maintaining and evolving the Import Trade Compliance Program to ensure operational competencies and compliant outcomes across all business functions. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Global Trade Compliance.

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and administer trade compliance training to functional teams to enhance competencies in operational business scenarios.
    • Collaborate with legal, finance, tax, and other functions as needed to make relevant trade compliance determinations.
    • Develop, maintain, and communicate standards to operational teams via master data or other databases to facilitate business flow.
    • Embed compliance controls into operational processes through SOPs, training, data management, and automation.
    • Execute internal audits associated with Importer Self-Assessment (ISA). Manage annual Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) review and support re-validations globally
    • Work with brokers to file Post Summary Corrections (PSC's), as needed.
    • Conduct periodic audits of export/import paperwork to ensure compliance with regulations.
    • Audit system data and settings on a periodic basis to detect and rectify systematic non-compliance.
    • Drive annual review and updates to SOPs and Import Compliance Manual
    • Support reconciliation work internally and with brokers.
    • Support issuance of USMCA certificates.
    • Manage classification requests.
    • Assist with Anti-Dumping/Countervailing (AD/CV) determinations.
    • Support duty drawback process.
    • Monitor and track broker performance KPIs to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
    • Oversee consulting engagements related to trade compliance decisions or findings.

    Required Education

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or similar.

    Qualifications: The preferred candidate will have the following qualifications

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in import compliance; global experience preferred.
    • In-depth knowledge of U.S./Canada import regulations, including but not limited to C-TPAT, ISA, Drawback, Recon, Valuation, Classification mgt, Broker management, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Food & Drug (FDA) and other Partner Agencies (PGAs), risk assessment, Country of Origin (COO) determination and marking, First Sale, and Free Trade Zones (FTZs)
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
    • Experience with trade compliance software and systems required; experience with SAP (S4HANA preferred)
    • Advanced working knowledge of Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and C-TPAT portal.
    • Ability to establish strong working relationships with brokers and USCBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection).
    • Proven ability to develop and deliver trade compliance training programs.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
    • Preferred:
    • Proficient in delivering engaging and impactful presentations to diverse audiences.
    • Knowledge of working export controls/sanctions.
