    Duties

  • The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a supervisory senior electronics technician providing expertise for RAWS development, operations, service, and support.
  • The incumbent is an interagency focal point for RAWS in association with training, quality assurance, and research and development activities.
  • Oversees planning, execution, and quality control of depot-related work; monitoring of all depot production; and output, maintenance, refurbishment, calibration, and certification of all RAWS systems and components under contract.
  • Develops and implements RAWS Depot Support Section troubleshooting, maintenance, operational, safety, and certification standards, as well as procedures necessary to maintain RAWS within specified standards.
  • Maintains accurate records regarding time and funding resources committed to all depot activities. Tracks all personnel, equipment, and expenses to clearly show the efficiency and/or effectiveness of Depot Section performance.
  • Performs quality control functions or activities as RS/FWSU Quality Control Officer to ensure all systems and sub-systems meet NFDRS and ISO 9000 requirements.
  • Develops original and extensive methods and procedures for evaluating, testing, and maintaining metrological systems and equipment which focus on adherence to quality control standards.
  • Performs research and development functions or activities as RS/FWSU Research and Development Officer by conducting experimental tests and evaluations on newly designed metrological systems.
  • Researches the feasibility of new or proposed changes to system operational and certification standards and procedures to evaluate their specific applicability and effectiveness,
  • Supervises personnel and assigns duties to safely and efficiently accomplish the workload of the RS/FWSU Depot Section. This includes direct oversight of electronics technicians, inventory management specialists, and material handlers.
