Position Summary
The Survey Party Chief position supervises members of the survey crew, and perform topography surveys, field layouts, and coordinate with the Survey Manager.
Survey Party Chief Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Oversee field surveying tasks such as topography, field layout, boundary layout, and data collection
- Ability to coordinate with survey manager, that may be offsite, and with project management staff for daily operations
- Provide care to survey equipment and understand usage of data collection equipment and upgrades to technology
- May be required to work as a oneperson crew
- Perform and execute onsite survey mapping, traversing, leveling, staking, and all survey methods required to complete the work requested.
- Read and interpret project drawings and details.
- Comply with required safety measures and maintain a safe working environment.
- Advise and assist with project scheduling.
- Support the project team as requested.
- Quality control of all survey documents, including field notes, sketches, plans, etc.
- Supervision, preventative maintenance, and repair of survey field equipment
- Use and understand survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
- Download and upload survey data to and from the office
- Read construction plans

Qualifications/Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Survey Party Chief
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Knowledge and experience in field surveying procedures
- Tech savvy, including familiarity with CAD software
- Great Leadership skills
- Ability to supervise team members
- Valid certification is required
