    Job Description:

    The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in the surgical team to ensure a smooth and successful operative procedure. This position operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reports directly to Surgical Services management.

    The Surgical Technologist is expected to contribute to system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. Additionally, they will actively engage in the surgical operations safety plan for enhanced efficiency.

    About Intermountain Medical Center Surgical Center

    Intermountain Surgical Center is a well-equipped hospital outpatient department with various specialties, including eye surgeries, reconstructive plastic cases, ENT, Ortho, Retina, Podiatry, Plastics, Otto, Urology, and hand surgery. The center predominantly serves outpatient cases but can accommodate inpatient admissions if necessary.

    The Surgical Technologist has a clear pathway for career progression to higher levels within the role.

    Job Essentials:

    • Ensures room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria.
    • Maintains sterile field and safe environment.
    • Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes.
    • Prepares room and instruments for surgical procedure. Might assist with sterile processing.
    • Assists the surgical staff during the procedure.
    • After procedure, cleans room and readies for the next procedure.
    • Identifies and manages emergency situations effectively.

    Posting Specifics:

    • Surgical Tech I

    Entry Rate:$22.80 or above based on experience

    • Surgical Tech II

    Entry Rate:$25.08 or above based on experience

    • Surgical Tech III

    Entry Rate:$27.60 or above based on experience

    • Benefits Eligible: Yes
    • Shift Details: Full Time - 36 hours per week
    • Location: Intermountain Surgical Center, Murray, Utah

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
    • Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician program (ORT)
    • Either graduated from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six months or has two years of relevant experience in hospital or military surgical services in the last three years.
    • International training equivalent and authorized to work in the United States.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Surgical Technologist with CVOR experience
    • Active National Certification as an OR Tech in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist.
    • Certification required after hire according to outlined timelines.
    • Managers will oversee certification progress for new hires.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Employee needs to have good vision, manual dexterity, strength for lifting, and be able to move swiftly during emergencies.
    • Expected to lift heavy items and assist in patient care and transportation.
    • May need to stand for extended periods wearing personal protective equipment.
