- Guides and oversees the administration of the Nursing Program to ensure overall quality and coordination.
- Plans, prepares, recommends, and administers the Nursing Program operating budget in consultation with the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)
- Ensures compliance with rules, regulations, and accreditation guidelines governing nursing programs; including acting as a liaison to the Washington Board of Nursing to continuing regulatory compliance.
- Works with faculty to maintain ongoing Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation.
- Acts as a representative of the Nursing Program to nursing alumni and the community.
- Exercises oversight of all nursing faculty and administrative exempt and non-exempt hiring, and resolution of nursing personnel issues, in collaboration with the Dean of CAS.
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates all nursing faculty members and directs reports to the Dean CAS.
- Insures that nursing educational quality is maintained and enhanced.
- Provides leadership within the nursing faculty for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs, including curriculum and instructional delivery.
- Creates and maintains an environment conducive to teaching and learning, including coordination and support of faculty assignments.
- Represents the Nursing Program in state, regional, and national nursing organizations.
- Oversees the allocation of faculty workloads.
- Makes recommendation to the Dean CAS for appointments, promotion, and retention of nursing faculty.
- Presides over Nursing Program meetings, and special events.
- Participates in the shared governance of the Department of Nursing.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff to recruit, orient, council and retain nursing students; serves as the third step in the student grievance process concerning teaching and learning in the nursing program (after faculty and lead faculty).
- Collaborates with Institutional Advancement in securing external funding for the Nursing Program.
- Licensure as a registered nurse in Washington with no restrictions.
- Earned doctorate in nursing.
- Minimum of five years of nursing experience, of which three years shall have been in a nurse educator or administrative position in a nursing education program in an accredited institution of higher education. Five years of nursing education experience preferred but not required.
- Minimum of five years of management experience with operational and fiscal responsibility.
- Experience in strategic planning and budgeting.
- Documentation of preparation and/or experience in curriculum and teaching.
- Knowledge of administrative issues in higher education.
- Experience in grant writing or securing external funding for the program.
- Ability to supervise professional staff.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills.
- Familiarity with faith-based, liberal arts schools.
- Strong leadership skills.

Summary of the Position:
As the chief nursing officer in the Nursing Program, the Director of Nursing provides leadership and represents the nursing faculty and students in all issues that impact the Nursing Program, while also holding a College and institutional view of those issues.

Salary Level/Rank:
This is a faculty position at the associate or full Professor level with an annual renewable administrative appointment as Director of Nursing.
