- Bachelor of Science, Chemical Engineering and/or min. 5 years experience, preferably on Ethane Cracking or Naphtha Steam Cracking
- Chemical Engineering knowledge: heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, chemistry, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, filtration, corrosion control, oil-water emulsions
- Interpersonal and effective communication skills, demonstrate authonomy and self-driven
- Good problem solving skills, good physical fitness required for access on/into towers, vessels, and other process equipment
- Work nights, weekends and holidays during turnarounds or other special circumstances when 24-hour technical coverage is needed
- Lead the Process Optimization - of the assigned units, e valuate economics to determine profitable modes of unit operation with Operations, Refining Supply & Trading Organization (RSTO) and Planning & Economics (P&E). Minimize the specific operating cost ($/bbl) of chemicals, catalyst and energy (steam, fuel gas). Manage deactivation and fouling rates to meet maintenance & turnaround cycles. Supervise chemical treatment programs. Organize monthly and/or quarterly technical review with chemical and catalyst suppliers on-site. Record and communicate his/her activities by means of regular process reports documents, troubleshooting/test-run reports and presentations at the Planning & Economics monthly meeting and Quarterly Management Review Meetings.
- Monitor the assigned units - Ensure compliance with Environmental permits, Operating window limits , Product Specifications , Catalyst and chemicals budget . E valuate economics to determine profitable modes of unit operation with Operations and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE).
- Support HSE - Environmental: on emissions calculations for reporting and Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation of environmental events. Process Safety Management on primary loss of containment calculation, participate actively in Process Hazard Analysis , initiate and collaborate in Management of Change and provide input for Risk assessments . Health : by ensuring proper Safety Data Sheets review and validation is made before purchasing/introducing new chemicals . Maintain relief devices database .
- Operation excellence - m ake recommendations to Operations on daily basis and to P&E on we e kly/monthly basis to ensure process conditions meet: 1- HSE constraints, 2- Availability target (long term sustainable operation), 3- Product on specification and 4- Profit target.
- IND ustrial Availability Network - is the main interface with TotalEnergies' Subject Matter Experts , Report KPIs, participate in surveys, benchmark and network meeting in representation of Port Arthur Platform.
- Troubleshooting - perform pressure surveys, temperature surveys, efficiency assessment to identify potential and actual problems, propose process conditions adjustments . S upport Perf ormance Control estimating the economic impact of slowdowns and unavailabilities .
- Mass B alance - Update spreadsheet for material balances, ensure orifice calculations reflect current operating conditions, request calibrat ion or rearrange of meters if necessary, provide recommendations to correct mass/volume balance discrepancies .
- Unit models - Perform test-run and identify gap between actual unit performance and unit model output. Support unit model updates. Define with Performance Control the Linear Program unit constraints to be considered for Long-Term Plan, Budget, and monthly plan
- Contribute to Platform Availability target - support the initiatives of the area availability team, work closely with the Availability Coord. to implement recommendations from RCAs and Vulnerability studies . S upport the corrosion specialist in the evaluation and mitigation of corrosion mechanisms .
- T urnaround and Major M aintenance - Verify assembly of process internals (distributors, trays, resin, filters ) and justify turnaround extra work orders (EWO). Document finding and propose scope of work changes for next turnaround . P rovide coverage for shutdown/startup off hours.
- Projects and Modifications - Identify, propose, justify and defend modification projects. S upport cap i tal project through all phases.
- Sampling and Analysis schedule - review on yearly basis the schedule with HSE, TotalEnergies' QA/QC laboratory and chemical vendors .
- Procurement - define technical specification for procurement of material s and services as: catalyst, resins, chemicals, gammascan, tracer studies , rental of process equipment in compliance with TOTAL purchasing rules . Perfo r m the technical evaluation and ranking of offers .
- Ensure th e refinery quality , safety, cost control culture and energy efficiency committment are carried out in daily activities .
