    Community Impact Manager, Early Childhood Initiative - San Diego, United States - San Diego Foundation

    San Diego Foundation is seeking an experienced, mission driven Manager to join SDF's Community Impact team. This position will be a vital contributor to the Foundation and broadly support the Early Childhood Initiative (ECI), a program within the Inclusive Growth portfolio. The Manager will play a critical role in project management, planning, implementation, and oversight of the ECI grantmaking processes. The following outlines the roles and responsibilities under this position in alignment with the program priorities and SDF's greater Strategic Plan. This is currently a hybrid role with weekly onsite requirements at our San Diego Headquarter Office in Liberty Station.

    Essential Responsibilities:

    Project Management:

    • Map program activities to strategic goals, manage timelines and milestones
    • Manage program budgetary and financial processes
    • Ensure complex projects are managed efficiently, supporting communication and coordination
    • Utilize project management software (Asana) to lead project planning
    • Identify upcoming changes, support team engagement in collaborative problem-solving
    • Maximize operational effectiveness

    Grantmaking:

    • Manage grant development practices, including public-facing content development and application review to ensure grant processes align with team goals and best practices
    • Utilize your knowledge and experience to inform the process, and your subject matter expertise to support the grant review process
    • Ensure process documentation and continuous development of practices are in place
    • Advance grantmaking best practices

    Program Impact:

    • Develop written and data-driven content to tell the story of the program, and manage impact reporting process
    • Craft data-driven documents and presentations that convey program goals and purpose
    • Develop and utilize data and narrative to frame and support goals
    • Support the development of convening efforts that engage local thought leaders and community stakeholders on issues concerning early childhood education and other relevant issues to raise awareness and facilitate collaboration

    • Co-support departmental operations to ensure consistency and standards across programs
    • Co-develop and support convening efforts that engage local thought leaders and community stakeholders on issues concerning equity, workforce development, and other relevant issues to raise awareness and facilitate collaboration
    • Utilize knowledge of local and state-level early education and care issues to support the successful implementation of program goals
    • Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Community Impact

    Requirements

    • A minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing nonprofit programs or in comparable industry
    • Knowledge of the local early childhood landscape, including nonprofits operating in the space, with policy-related knowledge a plus.
    • Passion for the work and mission of San Diego Foundation to inspire enduring philanthropy and enable community solutions to improve the quality of life in our regions
    • Experience working with civic and/or governmental partners to manage regional initiatives
    • Outstanding project management skills, time management, attention to detail, and familiarity with project management software.
    • Adept at engaging team members to problem-solve, build plans, and coordinate timelines
    • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal and written communications skills, including experience creating public-facing professional writing, documents, presentations, and related content
    • Ability to develop and present information for a diverse set of community stakeholders
    • Experience working with program budgets and related financial processes
    • Experience and comfort utilizing databases and working with relationship management software
    • The ability to construct and work across plans for multiple programs simultaneously while regularly meeting deadlines.
    • Knowledge of and experience working with organizations that address a range of issues facing the region, including but not limited to early childhood education and care, health and human services, and health equity; knowledge of and interest in public policy, a plus
    • Experience and success in stewarding relationships with cross-sector partners, including governmental and non-profit partners
    • Must be experienced and comfortable in a fast-paced, highly adaptive environment
    • Team player with a professional and positive demeanor
    • Knowledge, experience, and proficiency with computer software applications required: MS Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Asana and Blackbaud experience preferred

    Language Skills:

    • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
    • Additional language proficiency helpful

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

    • Professional, hybrid work environment in San Diego
    • Fast-paced work with multi-level distractions
    • Ability to safely lift 25 pounds
    • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at meetings, desk, computer, driving
    • Ability to type using a computer keyboard

    Benefits

    Pay Range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year
