    Job DescriptionNon-Profit Staff Accountant - 90% Grant Focused
    Onsite for 1 month then Hybrid - Cleveland, OH
    Contract to Hire
    $27-29/hr
    37.5 hour work week
    Free Parking

    IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
    • The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's financial activities
    • Responsibilities include monitoring, analyzing, and maintaining financial transactions for a wide variety of social service programs, tracking revenues and expenditures, and preparing required internal and external financial reports
    • This position is responsible for overseeing financial and grant services in the organization
    • They are responsible for processing financial statements, assisting in audits and assessments, identifying, and resolving discrepancies
    • Performs general accounting and grant accounting duties for the organization
    • Responsible for participating in full-cycle A/R, A/P, posting and reviewing of month end cycle
    • Posting, reviewing, and maintaining of the general ledger
    • Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
    • Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections
    • Bank reconciliation; tracking, recording, reconciliation
    • Post-award grants management; billing, reporting, tracking, and allocation
    • Manages monthly credit card statement, verifying receipts, recording transactions to proper funds
    • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
    • Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
    • Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
    • Works closely with internal departments to ensure proper communication
    • Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    TO QUALIFY
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Knowledge of general financial accounting and grant accounting
    • Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles as well as federal, state, and local government guidelines
    • Ability to correctly prepare tax reports
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software
    • Experience in Accounting software systems i.e Blackbaud or others
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, required
    • At least three years preferably within the non-profit sector
    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
    • You will have flexibility to work from our office and remotely
