    Summary:
    The Summer Program Assistant will assist the Summer Program Teachers & ELL Summer Program Teachers.

    This will include supporting a range of students in-person in instruction as well as assisting the teacher with daily tasks and routines of the day.


    The program is 21 days in July/August (20 days with students and a 4 hour set up day) and is paid 7.5 hours per day at the teacher assistant summer rate.

    Dates: 7/8/24-8/8/24 (Monday-Thursday)

    Times: 8:00-3:30 (students attend 8:30-3:00)



    Qualifications:
    Required

    Qualifications:

    • Associate's degree or minimum of 60 college credit hours (classes in education, special education, psychology or a related field preferred). Successful completion of ParaPro Assessment may be substituted for educational requirements.
    • Written language, technology skill and interpersonal communication skill to support communication among team members, with community contacts, school staff and parents is required.
    • Experience delivering behavioral and instructional (e.g. phonics, phonemic awareness) interventions.

    • Bachelor's degree (preferably in elementary education, literacy, ESL, bilingual education, special education, psychology or related field).
    • Experience working with children in a daycare setting or children/young adults in a school setting or recreation setting.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To):

    • Follows health and safety protocols related to COVID-19
    • Assist the teacher in all aspects of the school day, including arrival and dismissal
    • Support English language development instruction by working with students individually and in small groups
    • Help prepare instructional materials
    • Assist in classroom set up and clean up
    • Manage individual and classroom behavior
    • Provide small group instruction and targeted intervention
    • Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students
    • Communicates appropriately and effectively with culturally and linguistically diverse families as needed
    • Responsible for implementing "other job-related duties" as needed

    • Work is generally performed in a school environment. The noise level is usually moderate.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to walk, talk, hear, sit, and stand regularly and for extended periods of time
    • Ability to bend, stoop, crouch and kneel
    • Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 15 pounds
    • Sufficient mobility to navigate within a large school building
