- Plan, assess, and teach History to Upper School students in our coordinated Tri-School program with Gilman and Bryn Mawr Schools.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, minimum of 2 years.
- Attend Upper School division and department meetings as agreed upon with the Upper School Division Head.
- Collaborate with History Department colleagues.
- Post assignments on myRPCS, complete grades and comments each quarter.
- Engage in ongoing self-reflection and professional growth, actively seeking opportunities to enhance teaching practices, cultural competence, and understanding of diverse learners.
- Potentially serve as academic advisor and/or advisor to student extracurricular activities.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned from time to time by the Upper School Head.

- Familiarity with creating differentiated learning experiences aligned with formative assessments is preferred.
- The Upper School U.S. History Teacher is a part-time, exempt position.
- The individual in this position is expected to work during all hours as may be assigned by the School and during other hours for events and activities.
- The Upper School U.S. History Teacher is expected to perform their job duties on campus unless otherwise permitted by the Head of School.

The history teacher reports directly to the Upper School Head and is a valued member of the History Department. The individual in this role will foster an exciting, dynamic, and creative learning environment wherein students acquire inquiry skills and an in-depth understanding of historical thinking. This individual collaborates with passionate educators to engage and inspire students to develop an interest in authentic historical analysis, research, and writing.The Upper School History Department is committed to helping students succeed in an increasingly globalized, diverse, and digital world. We believe an understanding of history makes one an informed citizen of RPCS, the community, the nation, and the world. We believe that all voices contribute to a well-rounded view of history and allow us to participate in public discourse. We are a collaborative group of educators: teamwork permeates the department overall, and decisions are derived through discussion and consensus building. Within the Upper School, students study two years of World History and one year of U.S. History. We also offer a rich variety of rigorous courses as senior year upper-level electives, ranging from global to local in their focus and examining the world through a variety of critical lenses. Through our curriculum, we aim to graduate informed, analytical, and critical scholars who not only identify problems but orient themselves toward solutions.
This part-time role carries a workload of 40-60% and primarily involves teaching two to three sections of History to Upper School students. Additional responsibilities may include academic advising and other duties as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Remain in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for extended periods of time.Repeat motion of wrists, hands, and fingers to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, printer, and phone.Requires visual acuity to read a variety of written materials.Physical agility: stand, kneel, walk, run, push/pull, squat, twist, turn, bend, stoop, reach overhead, crouch, and can respond to emergencies.Must be able to move around and access all parts of the campus upon request, which includes gym, turf, fields, dining hall, etc.Occasionally ascend and descend stairs in emergency situations.
WORK CONDITIONS
BACKGROUND CHECK:A background check (including criminal records and employment history review) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can begin work with RPCS. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status or start of employment.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:Occasional travel may be required for field trips and other program related activities.
