    Senior Accountant

    La Rabida Children's Hospital is hiring a

    Senior Accountant

    for the Accounting Department in Chicago, IL.

    Job Summary:


    The Senior Accountant will assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports, complete monthly closing procedures and prepare monthly account reconciliations.

    Duties also include assisting in the preparation and review of operational and capital budgets, review and analyze departmental budget variances, provide various financial reports and analyses for senior management and Financial Committees of the Board, develop key performance indicators and operational benchmarking.

    Analyze economics of various programs, maintain liaison with departmental managers and administrative staff in the preparation and analyses of financial reports to resolve problems concerning budget variances, provide information to various external organizations and professional organizations concerning fiscal operations, assist Financial Management in various special projects and requests, perform other duties as directed

    Essential Senior Accountant Functions:
    Assists in the preparation of the annual budget –

    10%

    Reviews and analyzes monthly variances to budget –

    15%

    Function as the System Administrator for the Hospital's annual Budget & monthly and ad hoc reporting application, including access rights, monthly data downloads, review of key performance indicators and monthly report distribution –

    30%

    Maintain liaison with department managers regarding spending variances and problems –

    10%

    Prepares reports for Senior Management and Financial Committees of the Board –

    10%

    Analyzes economics of various programs and functions –

    10%

    Assist with other duties as directed –

    15%

    What We Need from You:
    Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant required. CPA Preferred.

    4 -5 years of healthcare non-profit experience.

    Working knowledge of financials and the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, and budgeting.

    Workday or UKG/Kronos experience is highly preferred.

    Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize projects based on deadlines and urgency.

    Ability to work independently within a fast-paced team environment with minimal supervision.

    Ability to communicate complex technical issues to individuals with little or no technical background.

    Ability to take initiative and implement change by recognizing problems and conceptualizing resolutions.
