- Provide Information Assurance Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and thought leadership for the largest Intranet in the world. A qualified candidate for this position would be responsible for network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Transport Services for the as-fielded NMCI network.
- Collaborates with Network Domain Architects to define and/or continuously improve: -Audits and Reviews STIG compliant configuration baselines, versioning, and compliance tracking. -Test and Validate Automation and best practice insertion opportunities. -Leads development of SOPs/TTPs. -Continuous Service Improvements (CSI). -System performance tuning and enhancements. -Create and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP).
- Extensive knowledge of defense-in-depth principles, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.
- Plans and executes network upgrades and maintenance activities with the NMCI Operations Manager, NOC Lead, Release Management team and other key stakeholders.
- Tier III escalation support and vendor engagement supporting Incident Management activities.
- Active participation in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities
- Typically requires B.S. Degree and 8–12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6–10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain (preferably in STEM or relevant field, or comparable experience with an additional 10 years or a Masters with 8 years of overall related experience). -Additional years of related work experience may be substituted for a degree at the Hiring Manager's discretion.
- 10+ years' experience engineering and troubleshooting networks, including extensive routing and switching experience such as MPLS, VPNs, routing protocols i.e. BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, switching protocols i.e. Spanning Tree Protocol, VLANs, LLDP, VoIP, Multicast protocols and emerging network technologies.
- Currently possess an active Secret clearance, or be able to obtain an Interim Secret clearance.
- Minimum of DoD IAT Level III Certification required prior to onboarding: CISSP or CASP (See DoD M Appendix 3 for valid certifications).
- An Associate level Network Vendor Certification is required prior to onboarding (from one of the following Vendors): Cisco, Juniper, CommScope/Ruckus/Brocade, F5 Networks or Aruba Networks.
- Willingness to work or be called in to work during off-hours to meet customer mission support requirements.
- Participate in on-call rotation for Incident Management responsibilities among the broader team.
- Information Assurance Subject Matter Expert for operations providing tier-III support to the NOC watch staff.
- Participate in engineering meetings to bridge the gap between operations and engineering providing operational readiness for new solutions projected to be deployed into production.
- Perform highly technical maintenance involving firewalls, VPNs, IPS, and load balancers.
- Perform Information Assurance related GDA changes.
- Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of IP network/subnet addressing.
- Experienced and adept at developing and maintaining technical documents, analyses, and reports.
- Familiarity with the ITIL framework.
- Effective written and oral communication and problem solving skills.
- Ability to travel up to 25% including OCONUS potential travel.
- Previous work experience providing support to the NGEN-NMCI program is highly desired.
- Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution.
- Advanced/Professional level vendor certifications (Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto).
- Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience.
- ITIL v3/v4 certification/training.

Leidos currently has an opening on the 'Service Management, Integration and Transport' (SMIT) Contract for a Transport Operations Information Assurance Engineer position.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the SMIT mission. SMIT is the largest IT services program for the Navy.Under SMIT, the Leidos team will deliver the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport.
Ultimately, Leidos will support the Navy in unifying its shore-based networks and data management to improve capability and service while also saving significant dollars by focusing efforts under one enterprise network.
This position requires someone with extensive Operations/Engineering Leadership experience, preferably someone with a previous Network/Transport technical background and working knowledge of a large DOD Enterprise Network Environment.
Manage a large technical team virtually, interact directly with and manage the Customer relationship.Manage key resources supporting Incident Response, Change Management, Problem Management, Operations and Maintenance (O&M), project sustainment and other ITSM and DevSecOps initiatives.
Candidates for this position are highly motivated and have working knowledge of network operations, fault diagnosis, repair, installation, configuration, cabling, passive infrastructure, troubleshooting, project execution as well as the ability to analyze and interpret numerous policies and procedures.
This includes a solid understanding of network architectures and engineering solutions. The ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented, fast-paced and mission-focused environment is a must.What You'll Get to Do:
