    Baker Smith, LLC (TBS) is searching for an experienced Civil Engineer (P.E.) to join our Transportation Design team and will serve as a Transportation Engineer in a dynamic work environment on a range of projects involving roadway design of new corridors, intersection improvements, widening, rehabilitation and related projects including single and multi-lane roundabouts.


    The Opportunity:

    • Serve in a support role for roadway and drainage aspects of various bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects.
    • Provide daily support to the Transportation Lead Professional and/or serve as the Engineer of Record on transportation design projects.
    • Position may require supervision of up to five (5) design and production staff.
    • Demonstrated experience leading a team of designers throughout the project life cycle is a plus.
    • Performing field investigations of roadway/bridge projects
    • Analyzing topographic survey data
    • Performing Hydrologic and Hydraulic design calculations
    • Review and/or guide Hydrologic and Hydraulic analyses
    • Review and perform drainage design
    • Review and/or perform roadway and intersection geometric design
    • Developing roadway horizontal & vertical geometry
    • Assessing utility conflicts with project design features
    • Perform constructability review of roadway/bridge design projects
    • Oversee production and development of design drawings utilizing MicroStation/Inroads software
    • Preparation of Technical Reports, cost estimates and project specifications

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    • S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
    • Current Louisiana Professional Engineer license
    • Minimum 10 years Transportation design experience, including a minimum of 5 years in major Transportation design (i.e., Principal Arterials or +$50MM Construction)
    • Mid-level experience with Bentley MicroStation and Inroads
    • Experience with design software such as HEC-RAS, Hydro CAD, Auto TURN, HYDRWIN
    • Experience with LADOTD projects required
    • Related construction experience in transportation/infrastructure a plus
    • Ability to relate to client needs and associates within all levels of the firm, possess excellent organization and communication skills
