Job Summary
The Empowerment, Healing, and Wellness Center (EWHC) Victim Specialist will play a crucial role in providing ongoing intervention services and support to victims within the EWHC. They will manage client intakes and exits, complete danger assessments, and collaborate with clients to develop action plans. Additionally, they will facilitate access to appropriate referral services and conduct follow-up procedures.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Provide services as required by the YWCA Northeastern NY's mission Policies and Procedures, as well as governmental funding sources.
• Assist in assessment/linkage and referral of individuals in crisis to appropriate services.
• Possess a working knowledge of the legal and social service system, as well as YWCA services.
• Assist individuals with completing and filing court documents such as OOP, Custody filing, etc.
• Escort individuals to court appearances and offer emotional support.
• Collaborate with attorneys, police personnel, court personnel, CPS Case Workers, Case Managers, and other providers of DV services in the community.
• Accompany CPS Case Workers on home visits when required.
• Respond to Schenectady County Domestic Violence Hotline calls, providing emotional support and necessary referrals.
• Process client intakes and review shelter guidelines with incoming clients in a warm, welcoming manner.
• Develop and implement action plans for clients.
• Provide information, support, assurance, and guidance to clients.
• Communicate client needs with other Shelter team members, other YW departments, and external service providers.
• Maintain client files and other records essential for shelter/housing services operation.
• Document services and submit reports as assigned.
• Assist clients with daily routines and shelter chores.
• Maintain a clean reception space and perform light cleaning of the shelter to uphold program standards.
• Attend YWCA staff meetings and training as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Noise level can be loud at times.
• Bending, standing, reaching, and stair climbing may be required.
Additional requirements:
• Criminal Background Check, including SCR/SEL/Fingerprinting.
• Clean NYS Driver's license and ability to drive non-commercial van.
• New York State Driving Abstract.
• Completion of Defensive Driving course.
