    Minimum Qualifications Eligible candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a title designated under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.ORThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. When the Civil Service commission adopts the NY HELPS resolution, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.Individuals certified eligible for the 55b/c program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55b/c of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. To be considered, you must meet the minimum qualifications and provide a copy of your letter of eligibility with your response.NON COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Six years of professional experience in a position where the primary (50% or more of the time) responsibility was the extensive promotion and representation of programs and services for public and/or private organizations for the purpose of increasing participation in, or utilization of, these programs and services.Substitution:An associate degree can substitute for two years of specialized experience; a bachelor's degree can substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree can substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate in a related field can substitute for seven years of experience.

    Duties Description The incumbent will report to the SG-23 Public Information Specialist 2, be part of the Stakeholder Engagement (Outreach) Unit, and assist in the following to further the mission of the Public Information Office:
    • Identifying and coordinating speaking engagements for leadership and executive staff
    • Research, registration, preparation and tracking of outreach events
    • Assist in the coordination of Board-hosted events and conferences (both in-person and virtual).
    • Represent the Board at various speaking and tabling events (including some travel/weekends)
    • Development of PowerPoint presentations
    • Webinar coordination and facilitation
    • Informational material development, printing, distribution, stocking and tracking
    • Engage with stakeholders via GovDelivery email blasts
    • Survey development
    • Tracking of shared mailboxes
    • Development of other outreach deliverables as assigned
    • May supervise interns
