RN-Staff Nurse NeurologyGrade:
N03 (Union rates based on years of experience)
Summary:
The RN-Staff/Clinical Nurse, in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Department of Neurology, will assist in delivering high-quality, efficient medical care to an adult patient population in the ALS-Neuromuscular Program in an outpatient setting.
The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day activities surrounding clinical research studies and ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities include:
providing and/or coordinating timely direct and indirect patient care services in a multidisciplinary setting; conducting comprehensive nursing assessments; obtaining patient history and vital signs; administering injections, blood draws, IVs and medications; maintaining records of vital statistics, and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system; appropriately fielding/triaging patient telephone calls regarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, changes in condition etc.; providing individual assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers which may hinder quality medical patient care; educating and counseling patients and families; keeping assigned patient logs up to date including infusions; and obtaining required pre-cert or prior authorization to assure the timely approvals of patients complex treatments and drugs.
In addition, the incumbent will coordinate with the RN-Clinical Research Nurse to facilitate the recruitment, screening and enrollment of patients for clinical trials.
