Description
This position involves leading research initiatives to support the department's strategic positions on automotive issues, including vehicle data. The incumbent will represent AAA, Inc. in the automotive industry and leading industry groups and interact with auto manufacturers, regulators, and suppliers.They will need expertise in the automotive industry, the ability to collaborate with contractors, and excellent communication skills to liaise with stakeholders.
The ability to draft technical papers and summarize research findings concisely is also critical.Duties & Responsibilities:
Develops and executes industry-leading testing strategies that push the limits of automotive technologies
Manages research teams through collaboration with the internal automotive engineering team, third-party experts, and client stakeholders.
Develop technical reports that summarize vast amounts of data professionally and understandably.
Work with AAA Public Relations to develop messaging that condenses complex research topics into consumer and media-friendly language.
Represent AAA in major industry forums, including conferences and committees.
Manages six-figure project budgets and timelines. Takes a lead role in overall departmental budgeting.
Requirements, Competencies, and Certifications:
Demonstrated proficiency with data logging, including integration of test data from multiple platforms and systems.
Knowledge of vehicle networks and ability to analyze and test vehicles for data transmission via telematics systems.
Skilled in using a peer review process.
Strong written, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
Comprehensive understanding of current automotive technology and the ability to effectively communicate that knowledge to a non-technical audience.
Demonstrated successfully managing complex projects that integrate business planning and operational implementation.
Working knowledge of P&L management.
Education & Experience:
Master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline is preferred.
Eight (8) to 12 years of related experience.
Credentials or active membership in one or more of the following societies is highly desirable: Society for Automotive Engineering (SAE), and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
Hiring Range:
$125,000 - $135,000
Position eligible for participation in AAA, Inc. Annual Incentive Plan.

The posted range for this position represents competitive compensation based on market data, internal equity, and the skills and requirements of the position.
