- Assist in managing complex capital projects.

The City's Construction Services team is busy and growing We are seeking motivated Engineer I's to play key roles in our Capital Projects. The Construction Services team is responsible for providing construction support during construction of City Capital projects. Our team supports an annual Capital Improvement Program of $50 million to $70 million.
The Construction Services team is part of the City of Shoreline's Public Works department which comprises over 60 people. Public Works includes three divisions (Engineering, Utility Operations, and Transportation Services) which provide planning, project delivery, operational services, and maintenance services to the community. We are a collaborative team focused on the needs of our community. We operate based on a philosophy of continuous improvement and are pleased to have achieved the American Public Works Association (APWA) Accreditation. We serve a growing, ethnically, and racially diverse community of 56,000 located directly north of Seattle in King County, Washington.
With this posting we are seeking to fill one Engineer I - Capital Projects position. The individual selected for this position will support the Engineer II's and Engineer III's through all the construction stage of project delivery. This individual will also support the Construction Services Manager and will work closely with the ROW Inspectors as well as construction management consultants.
We are seeking a motivated individual with experience in construction documentation, familiar with WSDOT Standard Specifications, and delivering federally-funded projects.
DEFINITION
Perform advanced technical engineering support services and mid-level professional engineering design, review and construction management functions. Duties and responsibilities can include but are not limited to engineering design, construction management, cost estimating and scheduling, and project management. Establishes and maintains cooperative working relationships with co-workers, other departments, outside agencies, consultants, contractors and citizens, and provides highly responsible engineering support to City departments.

Experience:

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, planning or construction management.
License or Certificate:
Valid state-issued driver's license.

All benefit allocations are pro-rated for part-time regular staff.
Each full-time regular employee receives Tier I allotment per month to buy benefits for themselves and family members, including domestic partners. If the employee does not use the entire allotment, the remaining amount goes into a deferred compensation (457) plan. If the cost is greater than Tier I allotment, the employee moves to Tier II allotment and is able to receive an additional contribution from the City of up to a current year total amount.
