Job Summary


Case Aide will ensure constant line of sight supervision of each UC during transport and will provide support to Clinicians for transportation needs within the facility and during outings to hospital, psychiatric and medication management appointments.

The Case Aide demonstrates knowledge of and familiarity with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) policy and procedures relating to the care and supervision of unaccompanied children (UC).

This includes knowledge of legal background and authority governing the practice as related to working with unaccompanied children.

The Case Aide will assist to facilitate coordination between all disciplines within the program to ensure timely reunification and safety of youths.


Essential Functions:


  • Assist clinical staff with daily responsibilities, including but not limited to filing, copying, answering phones, scheduling family sessions, data entry, preparing reports or other duties as assigned.
  • Assist in group counseling sessions, research and create psychoeducational topics and group handouts, printing out roster and notes, organizing them and getting youth's signatures. Create/provide/assist in "ice breaker" activities for group sessions.
  • Assist in research/documenting safety plans and resources list prior to youth's discharge.
  • Assist in picking up/dropping off the youth for individual counseling sessions, meetings or as needed.
  • Assist with youths' request forms process for the clinical department.
  • Keep track of inventory of clinical therapeutic tools and supplies.
  • Assist in providing materials for youth as recommended by the Lead(s) and/or Counselor.
  • Provide support in completing the physical file checklist and uploading documents onto the UC Portal.
  • Help clinicians fill out required paperwork, processing the forms with filing clerks.
  • Make copies for group counseling, individual counseling, safety planning, and any other interventions.
  • During group counseling session may serve as a floater to ensure everyone has the necessary supplies for group.
  • Maintain youth records up to date by reviewing case notes; logging events and progress.
  • Assist to prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing treatment, results data and trends.
  • Supports development and implementation of service planning to ensure that all youth have access to diverse and meaningful program offerings.
  • Ensures accurate and timely completion of documentation as required by state and federal regulations,to include ensuring that all services provided to youth are documented in the client record and required databases in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Advocates for the timely completion of specialized services as needed by the youth, including psychiatric and substance abuse evaluations, to include coordination with community-based resources if necessary.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with families, children/youth, colleagues, consultants and community agencies.
  • Develop and maintain emotional intelligence for effective self-care and the role-model for youth, and staff.
  • Assist to ensure that there is an effective and efficient system of coordination for staff utilization related to the complexity of youth and families, i.e. transportation, crisis support, behavior management and education.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the value of cultural diversity, including the ability to develop systems and practices that are inclusive of diverse staff members and responsive to the cultural needs of the client population served.
  • Assist in the provision and facilitation of department and agency wide training opportunities.
  • Assist ensuring program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Other task and responsibilities as assigned.

Level:
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Clinical Counseling, Human Services or other relevant behavioral science preferred. Additional degree/course work in related fields desirable.

Equivalent Education/ Work Experience:

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of progressive employment experience with demonstrated case management experience under HHS and ORR programs.

Must be bilingual in English/Spanish (speak, read and write).
