- Works with engineering leadership, direct reports, and product management as it relates to new product strategy, design, and development. Ensures that project schedules and milestones are tracked and met, and escalates concerns or challenges as necessary. Helps support team/direct reports and present designs through product design reviews with Director of Engineering and other business leadership.
- Participates in gate meetings to report on project status, design or specification issues, etc.
- Coordinates with product managers in the design, modification, documentation, and implementation of efficient, cost-effective, safe & reliable products in accordance with defined timelines/FPS requirements.
- Leads team meetings to provide status updates, discuss changes, and prioritize tasks.
- Provides insights and ideas for the feasibility and manufacturability of new products.
- Coordinates with suppliers and sourcing to requests quotes and obtain materials for new parts, materials, and technology needs to meet product goals and launches.
- Collaborates on the design and construction of fixturing for parts prior to assembly.
- Utilizes the Director of Engineering and Sr. Vice President of Product Development as a resource for coaching, guidance, and the prioritization of projects.
- Mentors and assigns tasks to direct reports and co-ops as needed. Reviews and approves co-op designs to ensure alignment with product specifications, cost-effectiveness, safety and reliability.
- Participates in maintaining and conducting inventory for new product launches to ensure an accurate account of parts and supplies available.
- Actively participates in engineering related continuing education and training. Utilizes supply vendors as an educational resource for the operation of new equipment and expertise on the innovation of supply usage in efforts to enhance the performance of FECON's products.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Leadership and management capabilities to coach, delegate to, and support direct reports.
- Ability to speak with poise and confidence and read write and speak proper English, public speaking and presenting.
- Advanced problem-solving skills, conflict resolution, project & timeline management skills.
- Minimum of 4-year degree in Engineering . Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- 8+ years of full-time engineering experience in a work-related role.
- At least 2+ years of experience leading and/or managing direct reports highly desired.
- Communicates orally and in writing; and hears at a conversational level.
- Required to sit, use fingers to grip with pressure, twist or bend the wrists, and keep wrists in prolonged positions of flexion or extension.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, climb ladders of up to 3 ft. in height, reach, twist while rotating the torso, lift up to 35lbs., use hands to grip with pressure, keep feet in prolonged positions of flexion or extension. Must be able to traverse the production facility.
- Infrequently required to kneel, crawl, balance, climb up to 20 stairs, bend repeatedly, pull, push, and carry up to 50lbs., lift 35-50 lbs., and operate hand controls.
- Rarely the employee will be required to perform hand over hand pulling and operate foot controls.
- Frequently works around moving vehicles and wear safety glasses.
- Occasionally works outdoors, in cold below 55 degrees and between degrees Fahrenheit, around greases and oils, in the presence of vibrations and dust that is greater than a nuisance, and with machinery with moving parts.
- Infrequently works in heat exceeding 100 Degrees Fahrenheit, with thread-locking fastening chemicals, in the presence of disagreeable or unpleasant odors, work with ladders or scaffolds, with hands in water, cutting oils, or solvents, work in a confined space, alone, wear ear plugs, hard hat, safety boots, or safety gloves, and travel by plane, train, or motor vehicle with overnight stays.
- Rarely will be required to wear a respirator or body protection, work below ground, in the presence of mists, or around noxious or harmful odors such as paint fumes and exhaust.

Job Summary:
The New Product Development (NPD) Engineering Manager is responsible for supporting the organization in all aspects of developing, testing, and deploying new products, including managing and leading other engineers. This manager will help manage, document, and communicate on project schedules, as well as lead & coach the team of direct reports on this process rigor.
