    This is a great opportunity for a software engineer who is passionate about open source software, Linux, Ubuntu Server, and public clouds.     Ubuntu Server serves as a platform that powers incredible technology worldwide and stands as the leading operating system in public clouds. As a candidate for this role, you will contribute to adapting Ubuntu Server for cloud environments, collaborating with our skilled team and benefiting from the knowledge and growth opportunities provided by the industry's finest engineers.

    What you'll do

    • Proactively collaborate with a remote team
    • Develop high-quality code for new features
    • Troubleshoot and produce top-notch code for issue resolution
    • Review code generated by colleagues
    • Engage in idea discussions and cooperate on finding effective solutions
    • Enjoy the flexibility of remote work with occasional global travel for internal and external events
    • Participate in the planning of new Ubuntu features, contributing new concepts within your areas of interest and offering insights on projects in other domains
    • Support in maintaining Ubuntu Server packages, encompassing traditional server workloads, virtualization, containers, package management, booting, early userspace, and language runtimes, among other responsibilities
    • Collaborate with teams in the Ubuntu and Debian communities, upstream projects, and commercial clients
    • Cooperate with partners to enhance Ubuntu's performance in cloud environments

    Who you are

    • You have a passion for technology and thrive in dynamic teams
    • You are inquisitive, adaptable, communicative, and responsible
    • You prioritize interpersonal skills and embody passion, initiative, thoughtfulness, and self-drive
    • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or related field
    • You possess expertise and interest in two or more of the following: Ubuntu Linux (kernel or userspace), Kubernetes, OpenStack, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, Python, Go, Debian packaging, AWS, GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud, IBM Cloud
    • Prior involvement in open source projects is a bonus
