Assist with technical repairs of variety of relief valve, tank vent, and regulator designs (performs actual repair work in the shop under supervision).Provide troubleshooting assistance.
Proficient in mechanical design and operation of pressure relief valves (including pilot valves).Solid understanding of inspection coding options on traveler (what each is, how to recognize each).Perform relief valve testing on all test stands (liquid, air, steam, tank vent).Demonstrates proficiency in blasting, painting, and cleaning of RV parts.
Assist with recognizing potential work-flow bottlenecks and recommend areas for improvement. Assist with implementation of process improvements. Ensure customer SCR's (Special Customer Requests) are followed by Caltrol team.What we're looking for:
High school or GED. 2+ years of experience as a shop technician and/or demonstration of general mechanical competency. 2+ years of mechanical trade vocation or education.
Proficient in mechanical design and operation of pressure relief valves (including pilot valves).Working knowledge and experience with PRV/SRV testing and repair.
Ability to evaluate technical data and troubleshoot mechanical problems. Physical ability to climb, possess basic agility and endurance and lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be available to work overtime including periodic overnight or out of state travel. Good communication skills for shop cohesion and customer service.Computer proficiency and able to navigate basic Microsoft applications. RSO (Refinery Safety Overview), TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identity Card), and Refinery Badges preferred, but not required.

Required:
Clean DMV and ability to maintain excellent driving recordAbility to pass random hair follicle drug testing requirements, including testing for marijuana
Training Goals:
Demonstrates good understanding of causes of common RV failures and visual triggers for these failures.
Detailed understanding of customer SCR's (Special Customer Request, i.e. paint, pictures) as they pertain to the shop.
Solidify solid understanding of mechanical design and operation of pressure relief valves, tank vents and pilot operated valves.
Obtain solid understanding of field service capabilities (knowledge of operation of mobile unit and field testing equipment, field service paperwork procedures).Demonstrate solid understanding of Quality Control procedures in place for both new product and repair valves (include knowledge of different stages of signoffs, and why specific QC steps are taken).Demonstrate solid procedural understanding of testing procedures (how to identify when a valve fails, link testing procedure to API/ASME requirements).Hiring RangeThe hiring range for this position is $25.00-$30.00 p/hour.
This is the pay scale range Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting.
The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, skills, qualifications, and experience of the candidate along with the requirements of the position.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Position requires frequent reaching, twisting, bending, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and squatting. Good visual and auditory acuity. Ability to understand and safely use hand tools. Use of Personal Protective Equipment when required.
Proper use of hand tools. Ability to work on elevated platforms and confined spaces. Must be able to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds. Agility to navigate scaffolding and good sensory perception including hearing and vision.
Travel:
Periodic overnight travel for training, other Caltrol service facility support and customer field repair.
Frequent travel to occur for training based in Caltrol's Southern California's locations in Santa Fe Springs, CA, and / or Paramount, CA during first 120 days of employment.
