    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Landing Gear Shop Lead Technician will overhaul, repair, and inspect aircraft landing gear components to ensure safe operations within guidelines set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Landing Gear Shop Lead Technician operate as a supervisor with assigned direct reports with corresponding supervisory responsibilities in addition to the standard aircraft components duties and responsibilities.

    REPORTS TO:

    The Landing Gear Shop Lead Technician reports directly to the Director of Maintenance

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Trains current and new staff
    • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
    • Provides constructive and timely performance input

    DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide training assessments to Director of Maintenance and VP of Operations in order to provide targeted training/recurrent training to the technicians
    • Provide technical assistance to technicians
    • Accurately report current status of open work orders to the Director of Maintenance
    • Assisting technicians in meeting deadlines
    • Distributing and redistributing work to technicians based on customer and company needs
    • Ensures technicians follow all proper FAA, EASA, Airside MRO, and customer guidelines while performing maintenance
    • Ensure technicians perform maintenance in accordance with all safety procedures outlined by Airside MRO
    • Contribute to the process of performing employee evaluations for those employees assigned to him/her
    • In addition to all supervisory responsibilities, all below standard aircraft components duties/responsibilities apply
    • Performs regular maintenance on aircraft components
    • Maintains records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and any reports related to parts or services
    • Performs other related duties as assigned
    Requirements:

    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Thorough understanding of aircraft parts, systems, and mechanics
    • Thorough understanding of tools and testing methods used to ensure proper functioning of an aircraft and its parts, systems, and mechanics
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and adhere to manual instructions to resolve complex mechanical issues
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software used to complete and maintain records
    • Detail-oriented with mechanical inclination
    • Superior and careful workmanship
    • Ability to perform consistently under stressful conditions
    • Ability to perform basic inspections and repairs
    • Ability to learn new skills and methods of repairs
    • Read, write, and understand English language
    • Sufficient oral and verbal communication skills, as needed, to discuss equipment malfunctions and complete reports

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • 5+ years of aviation maintenance with a valid A&P license
    • Prior experience in FAA Part-145 MRO environment is preferred, but not required.
    • Prior experience with OEM specs, manuals, and drawings is preferred.
    • Familiar with the use of precision measuring tools

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must be able to stand, lie, and kneel in awkward positions and spaces
    • Must be able to perform work on scaffolding or ladders
    • Must be able to lift and pull objects weighing up to 70 pounds at a time
    • Manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate tools or make adjustments and repairs
    • Must have visual acuity to inspect equipment and identify defects
    • Must be able to hear well enough to test sounds and identify functioning level of aircraft
