General Description / Primary Purpose
Under the direction of a Manager or above, works to design, develop, support, and maintain the organization's systems infrastructure, including the implementation and design of hardware and software. Analyzes, develops, modifies, tests and maintains the system. Makes updates to system related installation documentation. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.

Essential Duties

Job Function
- Investigates alerts and follow established procedures to remediate conditions that do not follow approved policies and guidelines.
- Plan, build, and support systems using Linux operating systems
-Design, develop, and support systems using Microsoft Server, SQL, and Azure infrastructure
- Design, develop, and support systems using virtualization technologies
- Design, develop, and support storage systems, storage strategies, and storage lifecycle policies
- Design, develop, and support highly available systems using clustering technologies and redundancy/resiliency strategies
- Coordinates software update services and patch management for systems
- Works with vendors to coordinate support and warranty services
- Documents system engineering policies, procedures, and results of tests
- Maintains and creates new system documentation
- Assists faculty, staff and students with technical questions related to managed systems
- Reads and interprets technical manuals
- Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions
- Works with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of University students and staff
- Other duties as assigned

This position is designated as a Tier 2 respondent for designated campus emergencies and events. In the event of a declared campus emergency, the position incumbent will make every effort to return to campus when directed. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

A Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and four years of experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university and six years of experience directly related to the job functions.
