Description
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at High Point University has 14 full-time faculty positions, and offers undergraduate degrees in Mathematical Sciences, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics and Statistics, and Mathematical Economics. We seek a dynamic and experienced candidate that can help grow the department, and work with other departments to support their needs. The department provides support for the general education of all students through general education mathematics requirements, to other programs such as Electrical and Computer Engineering, Physics and Education through core, foundational courses upon which those disciplines build, and to students pursuing one of the majors offered in the department. Preference will be given to candidates that are able to show the value of mathematics to each of these various student groups.The Chair will supervise and evaluate the Mathematical Sciences faculty; manage departmental budget; teach classes in Mathematics and/or Statistics; provide leadership in the instructional program and in curricula innovation directed toward growing participation in the degree programs offered; provide leadership for internal and external program reviews; maintain an aggressive recruitment and retention program; and other responsibilities as determined in consultation with the Dean of Engineering.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have demonstrated promise of excellence in teaching, a record of scholarly achievement, an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in working with highly motivated undergraduate students. The rank for the position is open and the successful applicant should be able to work with all constituents. The success of our undergraduate students is our primary focus.
