    Description
    This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment with duties in the High Point University Oral Health Network (OHN) and Workman School of Dental (WSDM), which includes the Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and post-doctoral programs. Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidate's level of experience and qualifications at time of hire.
    This leadership role is responsible in conceptualizing and implementing a digital dentistry program across the education and practice network (HPU Health). The position will report to the Executive Leadership Team and the Dean of the Workman School of Dental Medicine.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education

  • DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent), with eligibility for licensure (instructor or unrestricted) in the state of North Carolina
  • American Board Certification (or eligibility) in Prosthodontics is preferred, but not required.

    • Experience and Training

  • Preferably 5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry
  • Proficiency in digital applications in dentistry, including scanning, CAD-CAM 3-d printing, and digital treatment planning.
  • Experience as a program director in digital dentistry, AEGD and/or prosthodontics is preferrable.

    • Knowledge, Skills, Ability:

  • Latest evidence-based approaches and content matter expertise in digital dentistry and dental laboratory.
  • Operational excellence, proficiency with QI/QA in program development and sustainability.
  • Ability to cross-walk and map digital dentistry learning standards to meet or exceed CODA standards for dental programs
  • Serve as a mentor for faculty, staff, and learners.
  • Robust verbal and written communication skills.
  • Clinical documentation, diagnosis, and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.
  • Ability to generate operational and performance metrics
  • Travel to OHN (oral health network) sites

    • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The candidate selected for this position will perform all duties directed by the Dean and WSDM executive leadership team (ELT). The candidate will be expected to perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

    Education

  • Develop new training programs in Digital Dentistry
  • Serve as an attending clinical faculty for DMD learners and AEGD residents.
  • Involvement in curriculum design and simulation learning experiences.
  • Develop a digital innovation lab for education and application for the HPU OHN.
  • Provide continuing education courses in HPU WSDM as a content matter expert.
  • Serve as a clinician role model for learners and be able to thrive in a start-up education model.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Dean for Education on developing content for DMD curriculum, learning instructional methods, and feedback for assessment/performance.

    • CAD/CAM Workflow Integration

  • Spearhead the integration of CADCAM workflows into clinical experiences for students and residents, ensuring seamless adoption and utilization of digital technologies throughout the dental curriculum.

    • Integration of New Technologies and Materials

  • Identify and evaluate innovative technologies and materials, such as software applications, 3D printing, and milling technologies, that can enhance clinical practices and patient outcomes. Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to implement these technologies effectively.

    • Centralized Laboratory Implementation

  • Lead efforts to establish a centralized laboratory facility equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for the design and manufacturing of dental restorations.
  • Develop protocols and workflows to optimize efficiency and quality control processes.

    • Quality Assurance and Standards Compliance

  • Implement quality assurance protocols and standards to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and safety of digital dentistry processes and outcomes.

    • Patient care

  • Provide comprehensive and emergency care to patients seen in the HPU Oral Health Network OHN)
  • Demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, ethical-fitness, and patient-centered care.
  • Documentation of patient history, examination findings, diagnosis, treatment planning utilizing electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Comfort with digital technologies such as 3d scanning, digital design, 3d printing, and CAD-CAM.
  • Providing restorative dentistry with emphasis on implantology.
  • Be able to cover for other OHN providers, as needed.

    • Collaboration and Networking

  • Foster collaboration and networking opportunities with industry partners, academic institutions, and professional organizations to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and promote innovation in digital dentistry. Participate in conferences, workshops, and industry events to stay connected with the latest developments and trends.
