Job Description and Duties

Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s).

Under the direction of the Correctional Plant Manager II, the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, , is responsible for the supervision of two (2) Heavy Equipment Mechanics, and one (1) Automobile Mechanic assigned to the Garage.He/she will be responsible for repairing and maintaining the institution's vehicle fleet, including automobiles, heavy equipment, and various mechanical equipment.Inspects vehicles and equipment submitted for repairs, inspects and tests completed jobs, conducts inspections to ensure conformance with agency maintenance standards, including the DMV Pull Notice Program.Serves as liaison with Fleet Administration, oversees the procuring of parts and equipment, compiles and completes necessary reports.Oversees the procuring of parts and equipment for the Garage.Instructs and trains staff and inmates in the repair and operations of equipment, assists with repairs as necessary.

**Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Pursuant to the Public Health Orders ( and ) issued by the California Department of Public Health and the directive issued by the Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR), all staff assigned to this post/position may be required to show evidence of full vaccination and booster for COVID-19, absent an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation precluding them from vaccination.
