Genesis10 is seeking a Firewall and Network Security Engineer for a contract position with a reinsurance firm located in Warren, NJ.

This will be a hybrid position.

Summary:
Apply a comprehensive understanding of firewall technologies and concepts with a focus on CheckPoint and Palo Alto. This includes a basic understanding of routing, switching, firewalls, and network monitoring and management. Experience with upgrading, patching and maintaining Checkpoint and Palo Alto network infrastructure. Also requires a basic understanding of Cloud based firewall technologies. Ability to effectively collaborate with team members on larger projects and broader issues.

Responsibilities:

Upgrading, patching, and maintaining global production firewalls from Check Point R , 3600, 5600, 6800, Maestro) and Palo Alto (v9.1.

Monitoring and maintaining Zscaler Cloud firewall policiesRapid response to active threats being reported including IP blocking and IPS maintenanceSupporting new firewall deployments and upgrades to existing infrastructureDaily activities would include:
Track, update, document and resolve all assigned incidents and change tickets via ServiceNow ensuring solutions and support meet proper SLACoordinates with other departments in order to understand and meet their requirementsTroubleshoot network problems, schedule upgrades, network hardware refresh projects, and perform network analysis and optimizationProvide escalation support of network infrastructure issues reported to the network group and follow up as necessaryManage day-to-day calls and tickets for various engineering and troubleshooting tasksDetect and remediate security vulnerabilities within the firewall infrastructureManage production changes and tickets for our data centersPerform special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as requiredManage co-location and disaster recovery facilitiesTake over daily maintenance activities related to the global firewall infrastructure including:Log maintenanceReportingAuditingCreate/modify firewall rules based on user requirementsManage day-to-day calls and tickets for various engineering and troubleshooting tasks

Qualifications:

4 years of experience working with CheckPoint and Palo Alto firewalls2 years of experience with cloud-based firewalls (Preferably Zscaler)

Comprehensive knowledge of Check Point and Palo Alto technologies and protocols including:
Site-to-site VPN, IPS, Content/URL filtering, and Application ControlExperience upgrading, patching, and maintaining Check Point and Palo Alto firewallsExperience working with the following network management platforms: SolarWinds Orion, NCM, NPM, and IPAMHigh level of attention to detail and accuracy requiredProficient verbal and written skills required to effectively communicate in the English language required
