As a state-certified occupational therapist, you give your clients a sense of independence through treatment and enable them to improve their quality of life.

This means that you support them through activities and counseling to regain their ability to perform daily tasks in the areas of self-care, productivity, and leisure after an illness.

You work with people of all ages.

The training lasts three years and requires a secondary school diploma (or a primary school diploma + vocational qualification with a duration of 2 years).

Parallel to the training, you can obtain a technical college entrance qualification by attending additional classes. The training is free of tuition fees. One-time registration and graduation fees as well as learning material costs apply. Occupational therapy is considered a medically prescribed treatment. As an occupational therapist, you use a variety of treatment methods to treat the different limitations of your clients.


This includes activities such as:
therapeutic work with, for example, developmentally delayed children, treatment of mentally ill people, adaptation of aids (such as splints, walkers, living space), showing employment opportunities for older people
