About the job Director, Finance & Operations

Boutique asset management firm in Harvard Square is looking for a highly promotable, top performing, Director of Finance & Operations to step into a newly designed, hands-on & entrepreneurial role.

Reporting to the Managing Partner, the Director of Finance & Operations will lead the finance, operations & compliance efforts for the organization.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in investment management, excellent analytical skills (Advanced Excel / modeling), strong communication & writing skills (ability to write RFP's, create presentations, etc), and a desire to grow long term in an operational path.

This is a succession planning role, and ideally this individual will grow to be Chief Operating Officer / Chief Financial Officer.

The team is open to a top performer with anywhere from years of experience, as long as the individual is highly motivated and eager to grow in their career.

The Director of Finance & Operations should be incredibly self-directed, able to notice gaps in process & workflow and jump to action to create seamless solutions.

A strong finance, compliance background would be an asset in this role.

The Director of Finance & Operations will create reporting for the leadership team, & build strategic analysis to support critical decision making.

The team works mainly onsite in Cambridge, with a flexible schedule.

There is the ability to WFH 1-2 days per week, but ideally, this individual will want to learn and work closely with the team, on-site, to grow their career.

Qualifications:
BS, Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics
7-15 years experience in investment management / asset management / hedge fund / private equity environment
Desired candidate is looking for blended role, a mix of strategic analysis, finance/accounting, compliance & operational projects
self-directed, entrepreneurial, able to thrive in a wear-many-hats, dynamic role
highly analytical with Advanced Excel and modeling skills
Some compliance experience is a plus
progressive experience in finance, accounting, compliance, operations
proven success and promotability
Thrives in a top performing environment
excellent process improvement skills
strong relationship building abilities
Eager to grow long term with a small, well-positioned, firm
