    San FranciscoHardware Engineering – Systems Engineering /Full-time/ HybridAt Ouster, we build sensors and tools for engineers, roboticists, and researchers, so they can make the world safer and more efficient.

    We've transformed LIDAR from an analog device with thousands of components to an elegant digital device powered by one chip-scale laser array and one CMOS sensor.

    The result is a full range of high-resolution LIDAR sensors that deliver superior imaging at a dramatically lower price. Our advanced sensor hardware and vision algorithms are used in autonomous cars, drones and many other applications.

    If you're motivated by solving big problems, we're hiring key roles across the company and need your helpWe are looking for a Sr Systems Engineer who can use their cross-functional knowledge and experience to perform system analysis and integration, as well as develop and manage requirements throughout all stages of a product lifecycle.

    This role will translate many stakeholder requirements into clear technical requirements across a diverse customer range and product portfolio.

    The ideal candidate will not only be able to decompose these requirements but prescribe and develop verification and validation tests alongside various engineering disciplines.

    ResponsibilitiesDevelop key engineering documents such as interface control documents, design change management, and V&V compliancePerform trade studies, impact and risk analyses for proposed requirement changesConduct and document system-level analyses, including proof of concept studies and prototyping activities to support requirements generationDrive the functional development from system to component level in integrated cooperation within a cross-functional teamDevelop and execute V&V plans and ensure requirements traceability ("V" model implementation)Author, decompose, and iterate the technical requirements with the development teams and ensure their testabilityProvide frequent and clear communication to design engineers, peers, and external stakeholdersMinimum QualificationsBS or MS in Mechanical, Computer, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related field3-5+ years of industry experienceExperience with systems engineering for complex products such as lidar, electro-optical, or imaging systemsExposure to Requirements Management for establishing traceability using RM tools such as JAMA or MBSE tools.

    Ability to motivate others, drive collaboration, and quickly resolve conflicts Work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundariesDesirable QualificationsExperience with functionally safe product requirements (ASIL, SIL)Data analysis and visualization capabilities (JMP, Python scripting, MySql, etc)Familiarity with Model Based System Engineering methodologies and tools (e.g.

    SysML, Enterprise Architect, OPM etc.)Show out-of-box thinking and invent creative solutions for challenging problems$120,000 - $180,000 a yearThe base pay will be dependent on your skills, work experience, location, and qualifications.
