    **Overview of the Position:**

    The Buyer Assistant will assist buyers in their duties to ensure that items are purchased from our vendors in a timely manner within purchasing guidelines.

    **Essential Duties and Responsibilities:**

    Implements ordering of material to customer specific specifications

    Negotiates with vendors to obtain best value and to improve profit margin when possible

    Collaborating with requests from sales staff.

    Oversees issues or problems with vendors in a professional manner

    Manages both customer and vendor rejections timely

    Maintains purchasing filing system

    Responsible for any other duties as assigned

    **Education / Experience Requirements:**

    High school diploma or equivalent. Some company experience in sales, customer service or quality assurance is desirable , successfully completed junior buyer/ trainee period, or customer service, purchasing experience outside of company

    **Language Skills** : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    **Mathematical Skills** : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    **Reasoning Ability** : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    **Physical Demands and Work Environment** :

    Is frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear.

    Is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 10 pounds, and clear vision at 20 inches or less

    Works in moderate noise levels**.**
