Director of Infection Control - East Meadow

We are NuHealth We want to make culturally sensitive health care more affordable and more accessible here on Long Island. Located in East Meadow,
Nassau University Medical Center is the only public safety net hospital and community health care center in Nassau County. We are a Level I Trauma Center and a 530-bed teaching hospital.

We are seeking a well-qualified Director of Infection Control.


In this position you will:


  • Direct the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) Infection Prevention and Control program.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate Nassau Health Care Corporation's infection prevention goals, objective, policies and procedures, ensure alignment with NHCC's organizational goals.
  • Oversee financial management of the department, including department budget, capital, and revenue projections.
  • Identify and ensure resolution of infection risks to patients, employees and the community; lead investigation on infections, clusters, and exposures implementing risk reduction strategies; act as liaison with governing agencies.
  • Provide infection control information to staff, patients, visitors, schools, and local, state and federal health departments.
  • Regularly report on NHCC's infection prevention performance, and proposes corrective actions to hospital leadership and appropriate local and state agencies.
  • Oversee NHCC's training programs for Infection Prevention and Control, outlining standard of care, evidencebased practices, high and low level disinfection practices, potential infection risks, hand hygiene etc.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, federal agencies, and accreditation organizations, in matters relating to infection control; participate in regulatory reviews to maintain accreditation(s).
  • Report to the National Healthcare Safety Network (CDC reporting agency) for the Nassau Health Care Corporation, according to established guidelines.
  • Compile infection control reports; perform studies, and participate in research projects.
  • Interpret laws and regulations regarding infection control standards, and recommend necessary revisions to infection control procedures.
  • Develop and maintain infection control policies.
  • Identify the need for, and develop and implement proper patient isolation procedures, as needed.
  • Develop and assist in the preparation of proposals for the funding of special epidemiological studies.
  • Assist in development of legislation through participation in relevant professional organizations.

We require:

-
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited of New York State registered college or university, with major course work in Nursing or other health-related field

AND
-
Nine (9) years of satisfactory experience in hospital infection control, including four (4) years in the development of hospital infection control programs:

  • Continuing possession of an Infection Control Certificate issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC)


The salary for this job is $170,000/year and includes medical, dental, life insurance, NYS Pension Plan and other excellent benefits.

You must have lived in Nassau County, NY for one year prior to hire. This job is 100% onsite.
