    Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals and manufacturer's specifications, using hand and power tools using precision-measuring and testing instruments


    Duties :

    Observes mechanical devises (pumps, engines, motors, conveyer systems, and laboratory equipment) in operation, and listens to their sound to locate the cause of trouble.

    Dismantles devices to gain access to and/or move defective parts. Repairs and replaces defective parts. Adjusts functional parts and control instruments or may install specific functional and structural parts.

    Lubricates and cleans parts May setup and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

    May repair or replace electrical equipment.

    Examines and tests such elements of systems as distribution panel, controls, circuit fixtures, and motors to locate obvious faults, such as blown fuses, short circuits, broken wires, loose connections, and worn bushings.

    Replaces Faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators, and other simple elements of electrical systems, fixtures, and appliances. Read Thermometers and gauges accurately and record readings. Maintain and repair systems.

    Plans installation by studying blueprints and work sketches to determine kind and size of pipe to use any special fittings necessary.

    Installs pipe assemblies and plumbing fixtures. Repairs and maintains piping systems and plumbing fixtures. Inspects all connections and other parts of system for leaks, noting gauge readings to detect loss of pressure. Solders and caulks leaks and broken pipes Opens clogged drains with plumber's snake or vacuum plunger. Thaws frozen pipes. Replaces worn washers or other parts in leaky valves or taps. Repairs partitions, doors, windows, floor, furniture, and building framework using power tools.

    Assembles wooden pieces using glue, nails, and screws in building such as shipping crates, stands, display racks, and equipment cases.

    Depending on needs, may preform related tasks such as:
    replacing windows or torn ceiling tile, assisting other craftsman in handling materials on major repair or instillation projects.

    • Attend all in-service educational programs as deemed relevant by Director of Facilities or Designee.
    • Regularly greet residents by name in a friendly manner.
    • Use positive body language as a means of communicating with residents (i.e. smile, gentle touch, peaking from the front, appropriate tone of voice and at eye level during each interaction).
    • Deliver and receive feedback to others in a respectful manner.
    • Use positive facial expressions and effective body language when talking to peers.
    • Have positive interactions with coworkers.
    • Consults with other staff (nurse's, RA's, Rehab, social worker etc.) when faced with a difficult situation.
    • Share successful interventions with other team members.
    • Attempt to reduce problems in the environment (i.e. noise, TV, Radio, doors open, alarms going off etc.)
    • Verbalizes and demonstrates an understanding that resident behaviors are not intentionally malicious or hurtful. Must be able to lift 75lbs on a regular basis. On-Call duties as assigned
    • Perform all other tasks and/or duties as requested by Director of Facilities or Designee.

    Position Requirements Education & Qualifications :
    High school diploma preferred, with shop courses. Ability to read, write, and follow written instructions correctly.

    Must have a good, positive attitude and be able to interact well with residents, family members, other associates and vendors.

    At least one month on-the- job training to learn location of equipment, supplies, and organization layout. Valid Driver's License required. Must follow all policies of Wexner Heritage Village.
