    Description
    The University of Colorado Boulder Office of Advancement encourages
    applications for an Assistant Director of Development, Arts &
    Sciences The Assistant Director is a key individual contributor
    and partner for the College of Arts & Sciences, Graduate School
    and University Libraries and is a crucial part of the Office of
    Advancement. Under the mentorship of the Senior Director of
    Development and other senior members of the team, the Assistant
    Director uses knowledge of fundraising techniques to coordinate and
    implement development activities for the College of Arts &
    Sciences, Graduate School and University Libraries advancement team
    and has a strong desire to work towards becoming an expert level
    fundraiser. This role is meant to build the fundamentals and
    provide a pathway for a successful career in fundraising and
    relationship management.

    This position demonstrates strong relationship-building skills and
    is responsible for cultivating new and existing donors and growing
    philanthropic support for the University through planning,
    cultivating, soliciting and stewarding leadership gifts of $10,000
    and above. While the focus of the Assistant Director is to secure
    gifts in the $10K-$25K range, this role will also be tasked with
    securing gifts at $25K+ and $100K+ depending on their portfolio and

    Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Portfolio Management and Donor Engagement
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of approximately 120 individual
    prospects capable of making gifts of $10,000+.
  • In partnership with the Senior Director of Development, develop
    annual goals around development work (face to face meetings,
    proposals, dollars raised, and assists). Collaborate with Senior
    Director of Development to develop strategic plans for cultivating,
    soliciting and stewarding each donor as appropriate, collaborating
    with the system's gift planning team, colleagues and academic
    partners when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular travel along the Front Range and in the State
    of Colorado to visit with donors in pursuit of achieving
    established goals and metrics.
  • Document prospect strategies and contact reports, evaluate new
    prospects and generate stewardship reports and general
    correspondence.
  • Connect with donors and potential donors via multiple channels,
    including phone, email, social media, etc.
  • Develop strategic plans for cultivating, soliciting, and
    stewarding donors in alignment with system-wide development
    objectives and academic priorities.

    Other Development Duties as Assigned

  • Partner with the A&S Development Officers to identify
    stewardship donors requiring cultivation toward a $10,000-25,000
    gift.
  • Serve as advancement liaison to academic departments as advised
    by the Senior Director of Development.
  • Grow philanthropic totals by deepening collaboration with
    advancement and other campus colleagues for enhanced donor
    engagement. This involves participating in regular internal
    meetings and engagement opportunities (task forces, frontline
    fundraiser meetings, etc.).
  • Embrace a self-learner/self-starter demeanor and continuously
    look for opportunities to match donor interests with leadership
    initiatives in pursuit of meeting established goals and
    objectives.
  • Facilitate positive relationships daily between donors and CU
    administrators, faculty and staff to ensure effectiveness of
    programs.
  • Represent the University at events to support CU and cultivate
    donors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    What You Should Know

  • This position will occasionally be required to work
    evenings/weekends.
  • This position works a hybrid schedule with some days on campus
    and some days remote.
  • This position will require local, regional, and out-of-state
    travel to meet with donors primarily within Colorado, though may
    occasionally extend to other areas.

    What We Can Offer

    The salary range is $66,000-$72,000 annually. Relocation assistance
    may be available within department guidelines.
