Books, Brushes & Bands for Education (BBB4E) is a Hammond-based not-for-profit organization that has been serving the community since September 12, 2000.

Our programs span from weekly after-school choral and band classes to quarterly literary and visual arts projects.


The Family Engagement Coordinator makes sure students and families are receiving the best possible services from our educators and directors, ensuring families are aware and meet payment deadlines through printed and electronic statements, keeping families updated on events and class changes, assisting with recruitment and outreach of new families, and capturing social media and website content for families.

This position has room for growth.


Objective:


  • Provide a safe and fun learning environment for all students and families seeking arts education opportunities.
  • Supervise evening literary, visual, and music education for students ages 518, per schedule.
  • Work with families of all backgrounds to provide them with a positive and respectful experience.
  • Problemsolving issues regarding student participation, payment plans, and other class challenges.
  • Facilitate positive relations between the organization and the community.
  • Foster effective communication within the organization.

Responsibilities:


  • Serve as class liaison and report any problems to the Board members or Board President.
  • Oversee the organization's daytoday operations, including answering inquiries and working with families.
  • Attend weekly classes to ensure that programs run smoothly and maintain positive relations with families, students, and instructors.
  • Arrive for classes on time, before the arrival of families and instructors, to ensure that areas are clean, set up, and ready for use.
  • Take attendance as students arrive and submit for verification against instructor records and contact families if students are more than 15 minutes late to the start of their class.
  • Ensure all students and families follow health guidelines, including current COVID19 policies.
  • Supervise the general area to ensure that students and waiting guardians do not wander outside of approved areas.
  • Attend student performances and fundraising events as they are scheduled.
  • Regularly communicate with families to update them of any changes to classes, events, student and family fundraisers, or performances.
  • Collect and record tuition payments from parents/guardians of the students as needed and submit them to the board members for balance and processing.
  • Send electronic or paper statements to families for tuition.
  • Assist with social media and website content to keep families informed and for outreach.
  • Take pictures or videos as needed during classes with the organization's cellphone.
  • Assist in recruiting new students and families by representing BBB4E at public events (such as community fairs and backtoschool events) with assistance from board members and volunteers.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum High School Diploma.
  • Experience with working with K12 students and family services
  • Must have essential cashhandling experience.
  • Must be a selfstarter and able to work independently.
  • Experience with remote/mobile credit card processing is a plus.
  • Experience with CRM is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is a plus but not required.

Job Type:
Part-time, 15-25 hours per week


Hours & Schedule


The Family Engagement Coordinator is a part-time position that includes Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm for choir.

Other hours are flexible between Monday-Thursday, 10:00 am

  • 5:00 pm. Some weekends will be required.

Salary:
Starting at $16 an hour, part-time, 25 hours/week
