    Job Summary


    The Analytics & Experiences group (AXP) is part of Comcast Cable's Technology & Product (T&P) organization and serves the larger company with critical business insights tooling and infrastructure.

    The Sift platform which is integral in gaining and visualizing reliable insights needs your help to build out its backend API and monitoring systems.

    You will work with other engineers and analysts with backgrounds in big-data processing and visualization.

    Core Responsibilities

    Analyzes and determines integration needs.

    Evaluates and plans software designs, test results and technical manuals.

    Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.

    Programs new software, web applications and supports new applications under development and the customization of current applications.

    Edits and reviews technical requirements documentation.

    Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.

    Displays knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.

    Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills.

    Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.

    Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

    Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

    Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Writing production-quality, tested code.

    Ownership of code, responsibility for balancing functionality, efficiency, development time and readability, as well as robustness

    Producing technical designs and documentation at varying levels of granularity

    Collaborating with our quality assurance and technical operations teams to provide outstanding customer service

    Resisting the accrual of "technical debt" in our systems.

    Building proof-of-concept applications or conducting research experiments

    Staying educated on technical developments and tools necessary for the design and maintenance of complex, distributed platforms.

    Qualifications

    BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field

    3+ years of development experience in a combination of Golang and Python or Java

    AWS cloud with Lambda / Cloudfront / API Gateway experience a plus

    Docker experience with building/running/optimizing a plus

    Experience developing backend applications

    Experience with distributed messaging (Kinesis, Kafka) a plus

    Experience with SQL, noSQL databases (Redis / Elastic Search / DynamoDB) desired

    Knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes) a plus

    Strong error handling habits and experience with monitoring tools desired

    Experience with continuous integration, test-driven-development, automated unit and integration testing

    Experience analyzing large datasets desired

    Hands-on experience developing RESTful web services desired

    Experience using GIT versioning tool required

    Experience with Agile development methodologies and practices (refactoring, TDD, pair programming)

    UNIX/Linux background:
    BASH scripting and performance analysis a plus

    Experience with various data interchange and representation formats such as JSON, XML, Avro, and Protobuf
