The Grant Accountant/Manager at Alaska Village Electric Cooperative (AVEC) is responsible for managing all financial aspects of grants, ensuring compliance with grant conditions, and providing accurate and timely financial reporting.
This position plays a vital role in overseeing grant-funded projects, maintaining cost controls, and fostering strong relationships with granting agencies.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Serve as the primary contact for all granting agencies, ensuring AVEC's compliance with grant conditions and requirements. Manage grant funding from Federal, State, and private grantors, including tracking financial status and drawing funds as needed. Maintain accurate accounting cost controls for all grant-funded projects and process incoming invoices. Prepare and submit monthly financial reports on grants to funding agencies and internal departments. Review and implement grant budgets in accordance with reporting requirements. Perform closeout reporting for all grants, including final cost reports and compliance with 2 CFR 200. Provide Grants receivable schedule and grant reimbursement reports for the annual audit. Assist with funding applications for grants, loans, and bonds as needed. Prepare materials for internal and external meetings and maintain working relationships with other departments. Occasionally travel to communities and present on grant-related topics.
Position Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar field with three or more years of accounting experience.
Experience can be substituted for education on a basis of two years of directly applicable experience for each year of education.
Certification:
CPA preferred but not required
Preferred:
Experience with grant accounting, administration, reporting, cost control, and single audit
Other:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Skills and Abilities:
Reliable, punctual, and productive with a positive attitude. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel. Ability to perform ten key by touch and demonstrate strong research, analysis, and problem-solving skills. Effective planning, organizing, and prioritizing abilities with flexibility to meet multiple priorities and adapt to change. Able to work efficiently under pressure.
Rewards:
We offer a comprehensive pay and benefit package. Highlights include starting pay expected between $38.65 and $48.84 per hour. 401K Plan with Employer Match and Retirement Pension Plan (Defined Benefit, Employer paid pension). Paid leave (PTO) starting at 21 days per year and up to 6 weeks maximum. We also offer 8 paid Holidays plus 2 Floating Holidays and a Birthday Holiday.
Other benefits include Medical and RX (PPO or HSA plans available), Dental, and Vision - OR - cash in lieu of benefits.
