- Prepare roadway design plans for NCDOT projects
- Review local municipal and NCDOT roadway design standards
- Familiarity with general utility design along primary and secondary roadways
- Reviewing and understanding transportation design plans for roadway improvements
- Attend and conduct meetings with client and other design team members
- Perform design quantity take-offs, and develop opinions of construction cost
- Prepare encroachment agreements
- Present technical information to demonstrate compliance with client requirements and/or regulatory requirements
- Complete tasks and assignments as directed by other Project Managers within the timeframes and budgetary constraints of the project
- Serve as a mentor for less experienced staff
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or similar
- FE / EIT Certification
- 4+ years of professional experience working in roadway design
- Proficient in MS Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, and Word), PDF editing (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.), and MicroStation
- Professional Engineer (PE) Certification in North Carolina
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Be able to work independently as well as in a team
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Desire and ability to manage and lead less experienced staff

JobResponsibilities
Pennoni is currently seeking a Staff Roadway Engineer to assist on multi-discipline designs for public infrastructure and private site development projects. This position may also require supervision of support staff and in all aspects of projects, including conceptual/planning, preliminary design, detailed design, construction documentation, permitting documents and engineering reports.
