    Job Description

    The Clinical Research Coordinator is an entry human subjects researcher, responsible for conducting and assisting in clinical research studies under the supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior clinical research staff. This individual obtains informed consent, collects, maintains and organizes study information. Assists in the preparation and submission of grant applications and documents (e.g., Institutional Review Board, Grants and Contracts Office).

    As a Clinical Research Coordinator specializing in Intestinal Ultrasound Data Entry for the Henry and Elaine Kaufman Intestinal Ultrasound Program, the role will play a crucial role in supporting clinical and laboratory research endeavors focused on children and adults with inflammatory bowel disease at the Susan and Leonard Feinstein Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The primary responsibility will be to accurately enter data obtained from intestinal ultrasounds and other clinical/laboratory parameters into a Mount Sinai REDCap research outcomes database. The role will collaborate closely with Dr. Michael Dolinger to ensure the integrity and completeness of the data entered. Attention to detail, proficiency in data management tools, and adherence to research protocols are essential for success in this role.

    Responsibilities
    • Conducts routine and standardized human subjects research using appropriate research or interview techniques specific to subject matter of the research project, under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator or senior clinical research staff.
    • Assists in the activities related to clinical research including, but not limited to: obtaining informed consent, screening participants for eligibility, registering patients with sponsoring agencies, administering questionnaires and answering telephone calls.
    • Assists in the collection and data entry.
    • Maintains source documents and subject files in accordance with Mount Sinai policies and procedures. Ensures accurate, confidential and complete compilation of data.
    • May secure and ship clinical specimens as required by the protocol.
    • May assist in the preparation for regulatory agency site visits.
    • Performs other related duties
    • Enter intestinal ultrasound findings and related clinical/laboratory data into the REDCap database accurately and efficiently.
    • Ensure timely and systematic data entry while maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.
    • Perform quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies or errors in entered data.
    • Collaboration:
      • Collaborate with IBD clinicians and IBD team personnel to collect relevant data for entry into REDCap.
      • Communicate effectively with team members to clarify data entry requirements and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
      • Participate in team meetings to provide updates on data entry progress and discuss any challenges encountered.
    • Protocol Adherence:
      • Adhere to established research protocols and guidelines for data collection, entry, and management.
      • Maintain documentation of data entry procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and ethical considerations.
    • Record Keeping:
      • Maintain organized records of data entry activities, including logs of entered data, error reports, and data cleaning procedures.
      • Generate regular reports summarizing data entry progress and any issues encountered for review by research leadership.
    • Training and Support:
      • Provide training and support to team members involved in data collection to ensure consistency and accuracy in data entry practices.
      • Assist in troubleshooting technical issues related to data entry tools and systems as needed..
    Qualifications
    • Bachelors or Masters degree in Science or closely related field.
    • 1-2 years of research human subjects experience
    • Prior experience in clinical research, data entry, or database management preferred.
    • Familiarity with REDCap or similar electronic data capture systems highly desirable.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry with a commitment to maintaining data integrity.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within multidisciplinary research teams.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of inflammatory bowel disease or gastrointestinal anatomy is advantageous.
