Description of Work Unit
The department of Journalism and Media Communication focuses on journalistic and other uses and effects of mass and specialized media.
To fulfill this role, the department engages in:
Undergraduate teaching, to examine with students the knowledge, skills, and values necessary for traditional and innovative approaches to professional journalistic and related communication responsibilities.
Graduate teaching, to explore with advanced students communication concepts, theories, research methods, and sophisticated application in academic and advanced professional work environments.
Scholarship and creative activity, to help understand the nature, processes, technologies, effects, and problems of communication, modern media, and journalism/communication education.
Service to the university, professional media, and academic organizations, including outreach to the public and media/communication constituencies.

Position Summary
Description:
Join an interdisciplinary team of researchers from Colorado State University focused on developing science communication training in a variety of areas, including addressing misinformation. Audiences for this training include interdisciplinary students and faculty, as well as community members. As the research assistant, you would be responsible for development of online-based education and training for scientists and community members. Hours and days are flexible based on the research assistant's availability.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
*Development of written and visual materials that communicate theoretical foundations and practical strategies for science communication, including addressing misinformation
*Source options for hosting the online module
*Placement of developed materials in the online module
*Collaborate with students and faculty from CSU's Center for Science Communication to support other needs of the project
Position Minimum Qualifications
*College-level coursework in science communication, or a related field
*Professional experience in the field of communication
*Basic knowledge of visual design principles and effective written communication practices
*Detail-oriented and organized
*Responsible and honest
*Flexible, resourceful, and able to solve unexpected problems to achieve the task at hand
*Employment is contingent upon compliance with CSU's vaccine attestation and federal government covid-19 vaccine or testing requirements.

*Bachelor's degree
