- Create simulation models.
- Prepare technical reports, such as traffic engineering reports, roadway designs, and traffic impact studies.
- Perform other engineering duties as needed to support various partners with projects related to traffic engineering, engineering design, and planning.
- Provide engineering assistance developing project plans, designs or other engineering projects.
- 6-15+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with roadway design
- Licensed PE within the state of GA or TN
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or an engineering-related field from an accredited higher education institution
- Traffic simulation modeling experience (i.e., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS 2010, etc.)
- Software design experience (i.e., Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Inroads, etc.)
- Understanding of GDOT policies and procedures, including Plan Development Process, Design Policy Manual, AASHTO Green Book, MUTCD, and Georgia Blue Book
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
- Possess developing technical writing skills
- Ability to research and apply development standard guidelines
- Self-motivated with the ability to apply independent judgement
- The candidate should expect to perform in a deadline-driven environment.
- The candidate is expected to either have taken or registered for the FE Exam within the first year of employment, and to begin seeking professional licensure.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing is required.
